Losing Weight with Chia Seeds
A natural lifestyle is a healthy lifestyle. If you have been a victim of yoyo dieting in an attempt to lose those last 10 pounds, you know how constant dieting can take a toll on your health. When constantly jumping fro one fad diet to the next you will find that your body is often deprived of the very nutrients it needs. Extreme dieting may often cause hair loss and skin problems and you will probably still not lose the weight you want to lose.
I was introduced to Chia seed about 5 years ago and it has quite simply become a lifestyle for me. After doing some research on the chia seed, I was most impressed with the seeds nutritional attributes. I was quite surprised to find out that Chia seed was abundant in antioxidants which caused me to immediately stopp forcing myself to eat Blueberries. The seed was also a great source of iron, fiber, and calcium. I began adding 2 tablespoons of Chia to my oatmeal, yogurt, or cereal every morning. This addition to my morning routine was quite effortless and certainly easier than any diet I’d ever been on. I was most surprised by the fact that the Chia seed seemed to make me less hungry which resulted in a steady gradual weight loss for me.
Chia seed has a tremendous capacity to absorb liquid. When the seed absorbs liquid, it expands, which makes you feel full. The fact that the Chia is so high in nutrients also contributes to the feeling of being full and satisfied. I found that I was not hungry even though I was eating significantly less every day.
Several types of Chia dominate the market. Organic black chia seed is probably the most popular, but there is also white chia and chia mixed with other health foods such as flax seed. Personally I have found the most basic black chia is just as effective as the fancier variations. You may find this seed at Costco, Trader Joe’s, and even on Amazon.
